Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional and community leaders.  Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. There are 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographic areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious and open to all cultures, races and creeds.   As signified by the motto Service above Self, Rotary’s main objective is service; in the community, in the workplace and throughout the world. 

The Rotary Club of Abbotsford Sumas has a membership of about 34.  Each year this small group of hardworking Rotarians raises funds through its many activities in the community which include the Annual Strawberry Sales and St. Patrick’s Day Dance and Silent Auction. 

The Rotary Club of Abbotsford-Sumas supports the granting of raised funds for Community, Vocational, Youth and International purposes within the scope of the Rotary International mandate and the visioning of our club.  Requests for funding will be considered from nonpartisan and inclusive groups who have a demonstrated need and who are providing direct services that improve the lives of those in our community and around the world.  More than 72% of funds raised by the Rotary Club of AbbotsfordSumas stay in our community.

Preference will be given within the following areas of focus: 

 

Eligible groups are nonpartisan, inclusive and accountable and have a demonstrated need for funding.  Volunteer driven organizations are preferable. 

Eligible programs address a demonstrated critical need, have realistic goals and objectives in meeting that need as well as measurable outcomes and are sustainable in both economic and logistical terms.
